Blue Marlin, Atlantic Sailfish, Wahoo, and a host of other game fish are in abundance at the Bom Bom Island Resort off the coast of west Africa. It is such an attractive destination for fishermen, nature-lovers, escapists and honeymooners because it combines excellent facilities and luxury in an exotic location.

The resort was built to merge with the beauty of the surroundings and the chalets lead onto private, exclusive beaches. A little bridge links the accommodation to the restaurant, casino and pool on the islet of Bom Bom.

The "Bar Pescador" is great for a quiet drink and to sample some of the fine wines, many of which come from the Chamonix Wine Estate in South Africa. Alternately, laze around the freshwater swimming pool only a few steps from the sea. Take in the tropical view that most people only dream about...
The equatorial African tropical islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the islet of Bom Bom are anchored serenely in the Atlantic 320 kms off the west coast of Africa. West of Gabon, in the Gulf of Guinea, they are one of the tiniest and little-known independent states in the world. The islands are collectively known as the Guinea Islands.

If you take a look at a map, you will see they lie south of Nigeria, and West of Camaroon and Gabon. Bom Bom is a tiny islet, divided by a shallow wash of sea from Príncipe. A sturdy wooden bridge gives you access to the resort facilities on Bom Bom from your accommodation on Príncipe.

January - April
Fishing quiet in this period. January & February normally have good Pelagic Fishing. Extremely good Wahoo run with average weight 40 Lb. No Marlin caught over this period, small number of sailfish.

May
Flat seas and occasional tropical storms produce good Blue Marlin fishing Marlin not as prolific as in July & August. If weather is good, expect 1 - 3 fish in a week's fishing (Sailfish).

June
Blue Marlin seem to be absent during this month.

July - August "THE GRAVANA" peak Marlin season
Blue Marlin present normally during this period. Sea conditions are choppy but produce excellent fishing (similar to US Virgin Islands). Most boats report days with 4 & 5 strikes.

September - December
Plenty of sailfish in evidence. Becoming less frequent towards end of December.

General
Barracuda, Wahoo & Snapper all year round. Full moon seems to slow down fishing, best results 1st and 2nd quarter.
