Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout…the finest New Zealand fishing in gin clear waters. Tauhara Sunrise, located next to Taupo Lake on the North Island, is the ultimate fishing vacation in New Zealand. Enjoy this luxury lodge and see why Taupo is a favorite vacation destination for New Zealanders. The lodge literally over looks Taupo lake, one of the largest freshwater lakes in the southern hemisphere. The lake offers pristine bays that are virtually deserted, an abundance of trout for those interested in boat or fly fishing, and a wide array of water sports and sightseeing opportunities. The surrounding countryside is spectacular. Taupo is the hub of New Zealand’s volcanic plateau, home to three majestic mountains: Ruapehu, Ngauruhoe and Tongariro. The lake itself was formed by a huge eruption in 168 A.D., and there is still a great deal of geo-thermal activity in the region. Fishing, hunting and adventure opportunities abound. And for those interested in sightseeing, Taupo is ideal to use as a base to explore the North Island because of its central location and its proximity to tourist attractions
